| Abstract |
The paper gives an overview about the highly complex SMARTPOWER subject, informs about the state-of-the-art technologies and devices, and gives an outlook in terms of technologies and design methodologies towards power electronic system integration. It is shown how power electronic system requirements influence semiconductor; and in particular SMARTPOWER developments, and under what conditions system integration can be expected. Evolution of voltage-, current- and frequency limits for single- and multi-switch SMARTPOWER devices is shown. Major restrictions, such as thermal limitations and parasitic interactions, are explained. |
