Usually in asynchronous Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) control strategy of medium voltage drives, the carrier and the target reference are asynchronous. In order to reduce the low frequency (LF) harmonic (less than H13), the carrier is synchronized with the target reference by fixing an integer N = Fpwm/Ftarget ratio. In addition, the influence of the phase position of the carrier within the target reference is studied. The theoretical and experimental results show that the magnitudes of these LF harmonics can be reduced by a ratio up to 12. |
