Energy management and efficiency along with component lifetime extension are the most importantconcerns in small scale microgrids. In this document, a energy management system is proposed for ahybrid energy storage system in active configuration. Two different Bidirectional Boost converters areselected as interface components and the controller for the different operation modes are presented. Theproposed energy management system is aimed for residential microgrids and adaptable for electricallypropelled vehicles with minimum adjustment. In simulation, the behaviour of the system presents a carefulmanagement of the stored energy, specially during the operation mode transition that may increasethe lifetime of components while provide efficiency during operation. |
