 Abstract   This paper presents an adaptive observer for friction identification and compensation in a linearservomotor. The objective is to compensate the dead-zone phenomenon caused by static and Coulombfriction and improve the tracking accuracy of the positioning system. Experimental results areprovided to confirm the effectiveness of the adaptive compensation scheme.
