Abstract |
This paper describes the new modulation method called direct torque control (DTC) applied to a 4-quadrant line-side converter using VSI construction. Power transferred to and from the line is based on hysteresis control of virtual torque generated between line emf and converter emf. Reactive power can be freely set to the desired value by controlling the length of the flux vector. These two hysteresis control loops enable very fast dynamic response to load brake step changes at the motor side stabilizing dc voltage to the desired reference in 10ms. The basic theory and measurement results showing the strengths of the method are given in this paper. |
