This paper presents a new approach to fuzzy tuning of linear controllers for improved transient performance. Using the characteristic frequencies or the corresponding products of double ratios as tuning parameters, the proposed approach is applicable to Single-Input Single Output control systems with Input-Output representation. Within a conceptual framework, the on-line tuned systems exhibit some basic properties of linear systems. This eases the design procedure, including parameter optimization and stability testing, strongly. With a novel fuzzy tuner, considerable transient performance improvements can be obtained at small cost. The new method is tested by several examples including a servomotor position control. |
