 Abstract   A universal control method for shunt active power filters based on the notion of load equivalentconductance is presented. The considered technique is often referred to as the closed-loop indirectcontrol, or the global compensation method. This technique is universal in use and may be easilyimplemented for three-phase network as well as for AC or DC ones. In the first part of the paper thegeneral idea of the control method of the active filter, which is based on the load equivalentconductance signal, is described. Then computer simulations and laboratory tests are presented.
