Abstract   This paper proposes an analytical spectral calculation method based on 3-D Fourier integral to obtain accurate spectra of both output voltage and input current of a scalar modulated matrix converter. The matrix converter (MC) is a direct AC-AC power converter without an intermediate DC link; three-phase output is synthesized by three-phase input through nine bidirectional switches. At present, there is little research on spectral analysis for scalar modulated matrix converter. This paper focus on spectral calculation, by the adoption of 3-D Fourier integral, spectral of bidirectional switch duty cycle function, output voltage and input current can be achieved. When analytic spectral solution is obtained, the correspondence between modulation strategy and harmonic components is established. Simulation and experimental results are given to demonstrate the theoretical work.
