Abstract |
A dual active bridge (DAB) dc-dc converter has a limited soft-switching range and high circulatingcurrent with the conventional phase shift modulation (PSM) when a voltage variation occurs in theinput/output voltage. To overcome these issues, single pulse-width modulation (SPWM) and dualpulse-width modulation (DPWM) were proposed and combined into one modulation strategy calledcombined pulse-width modulation (CPWM). However, this modulation strategy still operates in thehard-switching at the low power transfer with the DPWM. This paper modifies the DPWM to operatein a complete zero voltage switching (ZVS) operation. The efficiency of the modified DPWM arecompared with a prototype for buck and boost operation. The experiment results demonstrate theincrease in the efficiency with the modified modulation strategy by operating in a complete ZVS evenif the voltage variation occurs in the input/output voltage. |
