Abstract   This paper addresses the proposal and simulation of a direct voltage and frequency control (DVFC) ofan offshore wind farm (OWF) with LCC-HVDC connection. The proposed control system allows theconnection of the OWF to the LCC rectifier by generating a controlled voltage and frequency in acapacitor bank. The decoupled control of the d-q component of the voltage at the capacitor bank, connected to the ac side of LCC rectifier, allows achieving the direct control of voltage and frequency. The DVFC is implemented by orienting the capacitor voltage toward a synchronous axis that isgenerated within the controller and therefore is not subjected to any grid disturbance. The validation ofthis approach is done by simulation and the results demonstrate that the proposed DVFC is able tomaintain voltage and frequency within the OWF even during transient disturbances.
