 Abstract   A speed sensor less drive system for electrical vehicles is presented. A liquid cooled inverter and induction motor are developed. The inverter is based on a custom designed six-pack IGBT module. A new control method, Direct Torque Control (DTC), is implemented by using Digital Signal Processor and ASIC technology. An on-line efficiency optimization algorithm is applied.
