Abstract |
Variable speed operation of horizontal wind turbines has several potential advantages over fixed speed machines; additional energy capture, reduction in audible noise, etc. Several configurations of electrical generator and control system are presently used in wind energy applications. This paper describes another potential competitor for these applications, the switched reluctance generator which has very good characteristic in term of efficiency, control simplicity and robustness. |
