Abstract   A novel circuit-oriented ac machine models in terms of multi-port dynamic networks have been presented. The proposed models exhibit dynamic networks with the same number of external terminals as the real machines. Due to this feature they can be directly interfaced with any. converter circuit topology. Other important feature is that implementation of absolutely stable numerical integration algorithm and numerical model of saturation effects, in the main and leakage magnetic paths as well, are effectively taken into account. In particular, these models eliminate a general difficulty encountered in the automatic formulation of the conventional two-axis machine model terminal-constraints, imposed by the operations of converter-machine setups at normal and/or fault modes. As an illustrative example, to demonstrate the capabilities of the elaborated models, a laboratory induction motor drive system with a square-wave VSI in the stator and an industrial induction motor drive system with converter cascade in the rotor have been simulated and the results experimentally verified on the field.
