A new method for power conditioning of single-phase ac-de converters in parallel is proposed. At least one PWM converter is used in the group. The PWM converter acts not only as a rectifier but also as an active power filter for the other rectifiers in the group. Consequently, the mains current flows sinusoidally and the total power factor approaches unity. The PWM converter is controlled by a predictive instantaneous-current pulsewidth modulation. In this
modulation, a pulsewidth applied to the switching devices is calculated at the beginning of every switching period. To improve further the PWM converter performance for abrupt load changes, this paper introduces a control method with linear extrapolation of the resultant
current of the rectifiers. The proposed method was verified by experiments and computer simulation. This paper presents the control method, discusses steady:-state and transient performances of the PWM converter, and describes parallel operation of the PWM converter and rectifiers. |
