Abstract |
This paper describes a new control strategy of combined system of series active and shunt passive filters. Usual control strategy inherently results in an important number of passive filters in order to keep terminal voltage harmonic distortion from exceeding acceptable level. The proposed control strategy consists of measuring both source current and source voltage and applying two different gains to generate reference signal for active filter. These gains are variable in different ways with frequency in according with installed passive filters and load current spectrum, in order to achieve satisfactory
harmonic current and voltage compensating characteristics. Simulation and experimental results show that the proposed control strategy enables to achieve satisfactory compensation of harmonic current with minimum number of passive filters, and to maintain load terminal voltage distortion at a low level even in case of large background voltage distortion. |
