Abstract |
A magnetically coupled regenerative tum-off snubber is presented in this paper. Its main feature is that it regenerates the energy stored in the snubber capacitor to the output (or input) voltage using a transformer mounted on an inductor of the converter. Opposite to other known tum-off snubber solutions, we do not need an extra magnetic core in the topology. Design equations are presented for a boost converter. Some other converters with the proposed snubber are also shown. The experimental results presented for a boost and a BIFRED
converters complete the analysis. The tum-off stresses are reduced, and the efficiency is improved. This snubber can be of interest to be used in many applications which requires simplicity and robustness. |
