 Abstract   This paper describes the topology and operation of a quasi-resonant driver for LED lighting applications. The proposed driver incorporates a current doubler rectifier and capacitive safety isolation barrier. Variable frequency constant on-time dimming strategy is employed. Capacitive isolation helps eliminating the isolation transformer. The proposed theory is suggested and verified by simulation and experiment.
