Abstract |
The aim of this paper is to present a simulation model to predict the thermal behavior of transformers with variable inputs for transformer load and ambient temperature. The model equations are established to calculate the top oil and hot spot temperatures. A simulation tool is designed to predict a transformer top oil and hot spot temperature based on the transformer manufacturer data and loading. The winding hot-spot temperature can be calculated as a function of the top-oil temperature that can be estimated using the transformer loading data, ambient temperature, wind velocity and solar heat radiation effect. The top oil model equation and hot spot model equation is simulated in MATLAB Simulink under variable environmental condition. |
