Abstract |
A new maximum-power tracking method of a photovoltaic (PV) generator system using a genetic algorithm (GA) is presented. The output of the PV array varies with solar insolation and weather conditions. It is therefore necessary to provide control methods of power converters that maximize the output of the PV array. This paper introduces GA
approaches for such maximization. The GA controller searches and finds out the optimal duty-factor of the converter so that the obtained output power approaches a maximum at any
weather condition. This paper describes a new converter control method with a GA for PV generator systems, and discusses the system performances; dynamic characteristics including starting-up, and steady-state characteristics are presented. The usefulness of the proposed control method was verified by experiment. |
