Abstract |
The application of the super-conducting magnetic energy storage (SMES) and the thyristor controlled series capacitor (TCSC) is investigated to increase the maximum loadability of the transmission lines. In this way, an on-line fuzzy control scheme is suggested for each device. The fuzzy rule-bases are defined and explained. The validity of the suggested control strategies are confirmed by
simulation tests of a simple power system. A generalization for a multi-machine case is carried out by applying the fuzzy controlled SMES to the New-England test system. The simulation results clearly show
that by the use of the proposed method, the power transfer level can be increased via the improvement of the transient stability and damping requirements. |
