Abstract |
A class of simple circuits for direct current measurement applying a current transformer is proposed. The
circuits arc based on nonlinear effects in ferromagnetic core of the current transformer, and provide information about the current magnitude and polarity. The circuits are analyzed applying piecewisc-linear model of the core magnetization curve. Averaged-circuit model and the circuit transfer function are derived. Good linearity and wide measurement range are obtained. Design guides to reduce of the output voltage ripple are given. Measurement error within 0.25% of the full scale is experimentally demonstrated. |
