PREDICTING REAL CHARACTERISTICS OF BUCK-BOOST ZERO-VOLTAGE SWITCHING QUASI-RESONANT CONVERTERS

Abstract |
The behaviour of ZVS-QRCs, analyzed in previously published works, is based on the assumption of equal input and output energies. Nevertheless measurements on experimental circuits demonstrate an important deviation between the results of the theoretical analysis and the real behavioral characteristics of the converter. In this paper, a comparison between the ideal and the real characteristics of Buck-Boost
ZVS-QRCs will be presented. The real characteristics are reproduced qualitatively by computer simulation,
taking into account the losses in each converter element. For this purpose approximation formulas are used. The simulation results are confronted to measurements that were taken with different breadboarded Buck-Boost ZVS-QRCs. These experimental results are also discussed. |
