This paper proposes a novel constantly-sampled PWM scheme for a single
phase boost-type switch mode rectifier of non-uniform mains configuratipn, in which only two active power devices are employed. As based on constantly sampled data the proposed PWM scheme is well fitted to digital control implementation. It is derived mathematically that the PWM scheme maintains the ac input current to be sinusoidal and almost of a unity power factor. Instantaneous control of ac current waveform is also proved mathematically to be stable even in case of an abrupt load change. As an example, a design procedure for a dc180V, 200W rectifier with ac 50Hz 100V input in which the gate signals are generated by the proposed PWM scheme is presented. Digital PSpice simulation verifies its operational characteristics to be in good agreement with theoretical examination. |
