Abstract |
This paper presents the circuit topology of a universal input, unity power factor rectifier using a novel SEPIC-derived topology. The circuit is characterized simultaneously by 1) DC, single-phase and three-phase input voltages in a wide range (i.e. universal input), 2) wide range output voltage and 3) sinusoidal, unity power factor current drawn from the mains.
Unlike in the boost-derived topologies where the output voltage minimum is the peak line-to-line input voltage, the output voltage in the proposed topology does not have this restriction.
The steady state operation of the circuit has been analyzed on the basis of digital simulations performed. The paper suggests possible configurations of the converter for different input modes. The simulation results have been confirmed with corresponding experimental results
from a laboratory prototype. |
