Abstract   Simulation results of a three phase voltage-fed current-regulated PWM inverter, working as a shunt active filter for power conditioning are presented. The inverter injects harmonics and reactive power into the grid to compensate the reactive power demand and harmonic currents generated by a six-pulse thyristor rectifier. The strategy uses the concept of instantaneous reactive power to determine the reactive power current and the harmonic currents to be compensated. The current control is carried out in a synchronously rotating reference frame. The reference currents for the compensator are obtained either using a standard second order filter or a Kalman filter.
