Abstract |
The paper derives the stress of Zero Current Switches applying a simple equivalent commutation circuit.
Simulations and measurements arc used to investigate the behavior of IGBTs and MCfs as Zero Current Switches. It is shown that available PT-IGBTs generate distinctly lower switching losses than comparable NPT-IGBTs in zero current switching applications. If the adherence of small hold-off times can be guaranteed the MCT is an outstanding Zero Current Switch. Potential applications of zero current switching converters with PT-IGBTs, NPT-IGBTs and MCTs arc derived. |
