Abstract |
The 3-phase brushless DC-motor with trapezoidal back-EMFs is ideal for variable-speed, household refrigerators. The efficiency versus speed profile is flat and the control is simple. Sensorless control of the motor is required. A new, backEMF-based control principle referred to as ELBERFELD control is presented in this paper. The special procedure for start-up of the motor from zero speed is also described in details in the paper. Test results for the ELBERFELD control arc presented and it is concluded that ELBERFELD control is well suited for motors with speed variations within a mechanical revolution. |
