Abstract |
A high performance single-phase power factor correction converter using new
modulation scheme based on pulse integral/average value is described. Since accurate local average value of the modulated current is detected and controlled in real time by means of
analog oriented simple modulator, the PFC converter obtains a desirable input current under condition with a rippled dc current and varying modulation frequency. The theory of the proposed modulation scheme is described. Performance of a PFC converter using the new modulation scheme is practically evaluated and the validity of the theory is confirmed through
experimental results. Further, applicability of the modulation scheme to the discontinuous or boundary current mode converters and (quasi) resonant converters are discussed. |
