Abstract |
A new boost-buck chopper type static excitation system for synchronous generator that can sustain proper output voltage level even at the fault condition is proposed. The proposed excitation system is capable of supplying the maximum field current as long as the input voltage level remains above 55% of the rated voltage in this specific design. The maximum field current is a current to be supplied by the conventional bus fed one at the rated input voltage level. The
proper operation of the proposed excitation system is verified and tested using computer simulations as well as step function tests. The step function tests are performed with a 25KV A synchronous generator driven by a de motor. The simulation results indicate that a better stability, that can be
achieved by a conventional bus fed one, can be realized with the proposed excitation system. |
