The diode rectifier and capacitor in the input stage of power supplies of
workstations, personal computers, printers, etc. generate harmonics. When used in large numbers, like in large offices, then the third harmonic current component can lead to overload of the neutral line of the three phase power supply. Trondheim A new method of active filtering to eliminate the third harmonic in a supply phase of
the grid will be introduced. The circuit consist of a controllable resonant circuit that produces a third harmonic current with the same amplitude as the third harmonic generated by the load.
The power circuit and the methods of control are described. In addition both simulated and experimental results will be shown. |
