In normal conditions, the six power switches of a voltage-source inverter are commanded in a symmetrical way. If, due to a fault, one of the switches, eg. an IGBT, refuses to conduct, an induction machine connected to tlus inverter will- without special measures- exhibit" under most conditions a very deteriorated operation. Using a special control strategy, the behaviour of the drive
can be improved considerably, so tl1at continued operation of the drive might be possible. Simulations and experiments show the feasibility of such a control, but also its limitations. |
