Abstract	In the aim to optimize power/weight ratio of power electronic devices, it is proposed to discuss solutions by looking forward new materials and particularly FINEMET type nanocrystalline alloys. In a first step, their properties are looked-up. In a second step, experimental results concerning the improvements in performances-- which are obtained by using nanocrystalline materials in some power electronics applications - are presented.
