 Abstract   A growing need for more efficient generation, distribution and conversion energy intensivelydrives exploration of new power converters topologies. The paper compares key designparameters of multilevel and three-level boost converters based on fly capacitor and clampingdiodes. Main attention has been paid to three-level boost converter with clamping diodestructures along with features under operation in various modes and sub-modes in static anddynamics as well. A theoretical analysis has been confirmed by large number modeling andexperiments.
