Abstract |
This presentation will detail the importance of on-grid Battery Energy Storage in supporting Europe’sfuture Smart Grid. Batteries of all technologies have the unique potential to provide energy storageservices at all levels of the grid – generation, transmission, distribution and customer – while alsoproviding several ancillary functions to their different users. This presentation will focus specifically on the short-term potential for batteries to be used at the distribution level to provide grid management services to Distribution Service Operators (DSOs); and at the customer level to provide local storage in homes and buildings. The presentation will explain the different services that batteries can provide at both levels, and give recommendations for what is needed to create a supportive framework for their short-term market introduction and further technological development. |
