| Abstract |
Transmission HVDC power Insulated cables are essential links in the frame of HVDC connections (inside a coutry) and interconnections (between two countries). Depending on the power to transmit, voltage, installation conditions, type of converter, different technologies are available and a global optimisation is possible. Cables cannot be considered without accessories: joints, GIS terminations and outdoor terminations. Usually extruded cables systems (cables and accessories) are preferred regardingland applications up to 320kV. On the other hand, lapped mass impregnated cables are preferredregarding submarine installation, up to 600kV. The author with present a panorama of the cablesystems, compare their properties, and present the standardisation - qualification scope of the differenttechnological options. |
