Abstract |
For an off-shore wind power plant (WPP) with a point to point power transmission connection (excluding multiterminal system), there could be three main electrical structures;
(1) fully AC type, (2) AC collector network with HVDC (High Voltage DC) transmission and (3) a fully DC type with a DC collector network. In the paper, these different electrical structures for offshore wind power plants will be analyzed in terms
of benefits and drawbacks while comparing total energy losses of
different structures. As modern wind power plants are required to comply grid requirements at the point of common coupling (pcc), different control involved in fulfilling these requirements are also discussed in the paper for different transmission options. |
