Abstract   This work is intended to describe a novel topology for a class E oscillator for induction heating in cooking applications. The topology is remarkable for low cost, low size and medium-high power applications where efficiency is a must. Experimental results for a 900W (92\% efficiency) prototype are included.Multiple-burner induction cooking system including three or four inductors is widely present in the current technology. A novel multiple coils topology is proposed to obtain a cost effective, high efficiency, high utilization factor of electronics, sharing of the power converters, and reduction in the system components. The topology based on two half bridge inverters and they are multiplexed for feeding four loads using six SPDT (single pole double throw electromechanical relay), also the same topology is configured for feeding three coils using four SPDT relays. The operation modes and the control strategies are explained; also the main benefits of the proposed system are discussed in details. The proposed topology is designed and tested experimentally with a prototype for induction cooking system.
