Abstract |
Variable inductors are able to control effective inductance of secondary ac windings by dc excitation from primary windings. Hence, the variable inductors can be applied as a reactive power compensator in electric power systems. In previous paper, a novel three-phase-laminated-core variable inductor has been proposed. It has three-phase secondary ac windings together in one laminated-core to reduce the size and weight in comparison with the other single-phase ones. This paper presents a MATLAB-based dynamic analysis model of the three-phase-laminated-core variable inductor, and examines the performance of the variable inductor as a reactive power compensator by using the proposed MATLAB model. |
