| Abstract |
Controller Area Networks are widely used in automotive and industrial aplications. Especially in R&D
work where continuous full access to each component is a must and proper shielding cannot be employed
EMI can destroy CAN messages. When communication and ground level shifts appear often much effort
is spent on improving the communication process itself instead of analyzing hardware EMC behavior.
Such difficulties, however, can easily be avoided if optical bus topologies are used. This paper presents
a method to convert an electrical CAN network to an optical one; easy, fast and at low cost. |
