Abstract   A new power supply, PS, system has been recently installed at the European Electron Cyclotron Test Facility at CRPP, in Lausanne, Switzerland. The PS system is composed of two power converters, the Main High Voltage Power Supply (MHVPS) and the Body Power Supply (BPS), whose combined operation provides the required voltage and current, up to 100 kV and 80 A, for the operation of a high power, 2 MW, gyrotron presently under development in Europe for the ITER project. The specifications impose high accuracy on the voltage and very demanding dynamic performance from the PS system. In addition, the protection of the gyrotron, which may be subjected to internal arcs during conditioning, requires a very fast switch off and a tight limitation of the total electrical charge delivered from the converters. The MHVPS and the BPS have been subjected to extensive tests both at factory, before delivery, and on-site, after installation. All tests, performed on full power dummy loads, were passed successfully. Operation on the gyrotron will start in 2010.
