 Abstract   In this paper, the fullbridge DC/DC converter is evaluated for the application in a DC-based wind farm. A downscaled experimental model is used to verify the theoretical loss model with measurements, showing good agreement. The converter with varying voltage ratio has 2.2 % losses for an average wind speed of 7.2 m/s, while the converters with constant voltage ration have 1.5 % losses. Further, the duty cycle control gives lower losses than the phase shift control at low duty cycles.
