Abstract | A low cost PDP sustain power supply is studied based on flyback topology using Boundary Conduction Mode(BCM). This method guarantees the line current harmonic regulation under all load conditions and an excessive link voltage stress problem, that is serious in general single-stage topologies, can be removed because flyback topology does not use the link capacitor. Also, charge-pump switch driver has been developed to reduce the turn-off switching loss. Using the charge-pumping circuit and bias-stabilizing resistor, stable negative driving pulses can be obtained to improve the turn-off transition characteristic in spite of wide duty ratio changes. The proposed converter is tested with a 300 W(200 V - 1.5 A output) prototype circuit and the efficiency of 88.6 % can be obtained. |
